John Terry Chelsea Debut game was on 28 October 1998 after stepping up from the academy’s side team. It was the 20th century during John Terry’s debut game for Chelsea Football Club.

Probably, only a few would know that it was the beginning of a nearly 20-year stint at Chelsea. Terry was later be loaned to Nottingham Forest for a bit, but his Chelsea career started here. As a fresh-faced 17-year-old teenage footballer, Terry came on as a late substitute and went on to win over Aston Villa with the score, 4-1 in the League Cup.

At that time, Chelsea’s manager was Gianluca Vialli. Not to forget, Tore Andre Flo, Mikael Forssell, Graeme Le Saux and Dennis Wise were all in Chelsea’s squad in that year. Dennis Wise was the captain and also the best captain in Chelsea’s history before being overtaken by John Terry later.

Terry’s first start came awhile later in that season as he played in a FA Cup third-round match with a win over Oldham Athletic. After that, Terry went on to spend a short period on loan with Nottingham Forest in year 2000 to gain experience playing as a first team.

Soon, Terry has became the subject of interest from both Forest manager, David Platt and Huddersfield Town manager, Steve Bruce. Terry has begun to develop himself in the Chelsea’s first team squad starting from the 2000-2001 season.

In that particular season, Terry has made 23 starts for Chelsea and also voted as the club’s Player of the Year. As Terry continued to flourish in the following season, 2001-2002, he has become a regular in the defense line along with the club captain, Marcel Desailly.

On 5th December 2001, Terry has captained Chelsea for the very first time to win over Charlton Athletic in a League match. Even with the absence of the club captain, Marcel Desailly, Terry has played well and formed a great defensive partnership with William Gallas.

Soon, after Desailly’s retirement, new Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has appointed Terry to be the new Chelsea Club captain. It was a great and decisive decision as Terry led the club to win the Premier League title in the following 2004-2005 season. Also, Terry has broke the record with best defensive record in the Football League history with the most clean sheets and most points protected. Terry was also voted as the Player of the Year at the end of that season.
